Beauty-themed Parties: We Get Tan!
I love throwing parties as much as I like attending them. Recently some girlfriends and I started having spray tanning parties.
My friend Kristina and I picked a date and invited friends; we set up a good spread of food and drinks that matched our themes. Our last party was called Martani (and I recreated the white grapefruit martini from celebrity hot spot Katsuya as the signature drink); most recently we did Tansgiving, where we cooked a big Thanksgiving dinner. (One of my pregnant friends and I had the same size bellies after that feast.)
Why: It’s a fun way to get the girls together! (Guys are always welcome too, although no one has participated in the tanning…yet.) Granted we live in California so a winter tan doesn’t look too out of place, but most of us get a subtle enough one that it just gives a natural glow. And it lasts up to 10 days!
Who: You’d be surprised how many spray tanners will do at-home visits. Google spray tanners in your area and call around to see if they do at-home visits.
How: Pick a theme! (Our December one will be Tanta Claus; I’m thinking Tanuary for January and maybe Valentans in Feb?) Book a spray tanner. Invite friends. Get food, drinks, decorations. On the day of our parties, the spray tan technician arrives with a pop-up tent, which is the “booth” for spraying, and each person takes less than five minutes.
Wear: Sweats! This is all about comfort and having fun, so Kristina encourages everyone to come as they are! For Tansgiving, she actually wore a cute towel-robe that one of the guests brought as a hostess gift!
It’s a fun alternative to yet another movie night.
