May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. Melanoma is the most common form of cancer for young adults 25-29 years old and the second most common form of cancer for young people 15-29 years old. If You Can Spot It You Can Stop It! Perform a self examination regularly and if you have any uncertainty go see your doctor!
Heidi Klum is instantly recognizable as a super model, television personality, and business woman. I was thumbing through a magazine in a waiting room recently and came across an interview with the gorgeous German model. One of the questions she was asked was how does she, as a busy mom, keep her skin looking fresh.
Her answer was getting plenty of sleep and getting a spray on tan. Heidi explained that she likes to get a spray tan before events to add that extra oomph. She likes the way a spray on tan looks. It just goes to show that whether you’re a super model mom or an everyday person, spray tanning is a great way to boost the look of your skin the safe way!

Royal Spray Tan for Royal Wedding
The Sun reported on Thursday that Kate will be getting a spray tan today. Her groom, though, will be opting for a nice shade of pale. “I leave all that metrosexual stuff to David Beckham,” Wills is reported to have remarked when Kate suggested the tan.

Spray Tan Parties - Newest At-Home Trend
Beauty-themed Parties: We Get Tan!
I love throwing parties as much as I like attending them. Recently some girlfriends and I started having spray tanning parties.
My friend Kristina and I picked a date and invited friends; we set up a good spread of food and drinks that matched our themes. Our last party was called Martani (and I recreated the white grapefruit martini from celebrity hot spot Katsuya as the signature drink); most recently we did Tansgiving, where we cooked a big Thanksgiving dinner. (One of my pregnant friends and I had the same size bellies after that feast.)
Why: It’s a fun way to get the girls together! (Guys are always welcome too, although no one has participated in the tanning…yet.) Granted we live in California so a winter tan doesn’t look too out of place, but most of us get a subtle enough one that it just gives a natural glow. And it lasts up to 10 days!
Who: You’d be surprised how many spray tanners will do at-home visits. Google spray tanners in your area and call around to see if they do at-home visits.
How: Pick a theme! (Our December one will be Tanta Claus; I’m thinking Tanuary for January and maybe Valentans in Feb?) Book a spray tanner. Invite friends. Get food, drinks, decorations. On the day of our parties, the spray tan technician arrives with a pop-up tent, which is the “booth” for spraying, and each person takes less than five minutes.
Wear: Sweats! This is all about comfort and having fun, so Kristina encourages everyone to come as they are! For Tansgiving, she actually wore a cute towel-robe that one of the guests brought as a hostess gift!
It’s a fun alternative to yet another movie night.

Spray Tans take over Hollywood
Video from The Early Show on CBS. Information on Spray Tanning and Sunless tanning products. I have tried some of the self tanners before and would much rather have a nice, professional Spray Tan and not waste the money! Also, spray tanning yourself is not easy, so I'm not sure about those at home "spray tan in a can".

If you are interested in trying a professional spray tan please contact us. We are located in Great Falls but can/will travel to other locations. Call or email us for details and more information!

Britain Bans Indoor Tanning for Those Under 18
The following is an article from the Skin Cancer Foundation. http://www.skincancer.org/
With the implementation of the United Kingdom’s Sunbeds (Regulation) Act on April 8, children under 18 years of age are now banned from using ultraviolet (UV) tanning devices in Great Britain. Tanning salon staff who allow minors to tan could be liable for fines up to 20,000 pounds (about $33,000).
People who start tanning indoors before the age of 35 increase their risk of developing melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, by 75 percent. UV radiation is a proven human carcinogen, and the International Agency for Research on Cancer, an affiliate of the World Health Organization, includes UV tanning devices in its list of the most dangerous cancer-causing substances.
Each day more than two people under age 35 in Britain are diagnosed with melanoma, according to the non-profit Cancer Research UK. Additionally, melanoma rates have tripled among Britons ages 15-34 years in the past 30 years. UV tanning devices have become increasingly popular over the same period. In some areas of the UK, around 50 percent of 15-17-year-old girls have tanned indoors.
In the US, tanning is regulated by the states, some of which allow children as young as 14 to tan. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classifies UV-emitting tanning machines as Class I Medical Devices, meaning that it considers them to “present minimal potential for harm to the user.” Last year, the General and Plastic Surgery Devices Panel of the FDA’s Medical Devices Advisory Committee unanimously recommended that the FDA upgrade its classification of tanning devices to better reflect the serious health risks tanning machines pose. The majority of the panel was also in favor of an age restriction to limit minors’ access to UV tanning devices.

A little about who we are & what we do
We invite everyone here in Great Falls, to check out our website, www.wctan.com, and feel free to send us a message or call if you have any questions! WestCoast Tanning Co. started "officially" back in 2008 in San Antonio, TX. In our 3 years in San Antonio, we built a wonderful clientele (we really miss you guys), including competitors in body building and beauty pageants.
Due to a military PCS move, we have now arrived in Great Falls...........and we love it! We would like to introduce our unique service to everyone here.
Spray tanning is growing in popularity due to numerous reasons, one of the most obvious is the fact that it is the only way to tan safely. We are not here to tell you not to go out in the sun, or lay out by the pool, or even use tanning beds......but we do want you to understand the dangers and be smart when it comes to tanning. If you are a tanner, a professional spray tan can compliment your already existing tan, help even it out, creating a smoother looking tan, plus it can allow you to give your body/skin a break from the UV exposure. Too much UV radiation (yes it is a form of radiation) is harmful, damaging your skin, even causing pre-mature aging......and who wants that?!
Last year Texas passed some of the most restrictive tanning laws in the country, specifically for teens who tan. Here in Montana, there are no regulations for tanning. With an alarming growth in the number of skin cancer cases, and the fact that those cases are increasing in young females, and even resulting in unnecessary deaths, we at WestCoast Tanning Co. want to express our concern and let everyone know that they do have an alternative.
Our custom spray tans are organic, with potent age fighting, skin firming and cell rejuvenation properties, loaded with Vitamins A & E – anti-oxidants, the exact same solution used by many Celebrities today! Instead of damaging your skin, we fortify and nourish it.
WestCoast Tanning Co. will not only fulfill your tanning needs we will surpass your expectations! In just 10 minutes you will have an instant tan and immediate satisfaction..........plus, we can come to you with our mobile spray tanning service! Visit our website and let us know what you think. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
